Angelajoe feat

"We went from a 300-person traditional wedding in Minnesota, to getting married on a mountainside in Colorado with only our immediate family and bridal party in less than 6 weeks. I had dreamed about a big, beautiful and fancy ‘princess' wedding since I was a little girl.

"As our date approached and Covid restrictions tightened, my fiancé and I decided to do something drastic: cancel all of our finalized wedding plans and get on a plane to where the mountains were calling us. The mountains have been my favorite spot, and where my fiancé and I had started our long-distance grand love adventure a couple of years prior. It was scary cancelling all of our wedding plans and deciding to plan an entirely new wedding elopement in less than 6 weeks — The morning of our wedding we didn’t even know where for sure we were going to get married.

"My family and bridal party pulled off to the side of a mountain pass, and hiked up to 11,500 feet in our heels and dresses, carrying chairs, a homemade arbor and bouquets, and little ones up the mountainside to a spot picked out by our photographer. The mountains spread out all around us in a hue of orange and red and we were captured by the incredible beauty. My brothers held up a burgundy sheet to cover me until the ceremony. As my maid of honor began to sing to the guitar of my brother-in-law on the side of the mountain, the sheet was pulled down and I walked down the mountainside toward my crying groom.

"After the ceremony and a breathless photoshoot hopping across rivers, hiking to different mountain spots, and sweeping sticks and leaves under my dirty, windswept dress, we headed back to the VRBO to meet up with our families. We cleared the floor and danced in the living room, made s’mores and sang songs around the fire and bonded in our little private mountain oasis as a newly joined family.

"Sometimes surrendering our plans opens the doors to bigger adventures we could have never imagined. At the end of the day, it’s the sweet and simple things that make life beautiful.”

Angela + Joe’s story is one of the most amazing we’ve been privileged to feature on this blog! We are so proud of our brides for taking 2020 and turning it into something beautiful. All our love and congratulations to them!!
